Orange Cake


1. 200g butter at room temperature

2. 200g of sugar

3. 4 eggs

4. 200g wheat flour

5. 1 teaspoon baking powder

6. Zest of 2 oranges

7. 100ml of orange juice

8. 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Frosting (optional):

1. 150g icing sugar

2. 3-4 tablespoons of orange juice


1. Preparation of the cake:

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

2. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.

3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Add the orange zest and vanilla essence (if you are using it).

5. Sift the flour and baking powder into the mixture and combine gently.

6. Add the orange juice and mix until you obtain a homogeneous mass.

7. Pour the dough into a previously greased and floured mold.

8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

9. Let cool in the mold for a few minutes and then turn out onto a rack to cool completely.

2. Frosting (if you decide to do it):

1. Mix the icing sugar with the orange juice until you obtain a smooth, pourable consistency.

2. Pour the glaze over the cooled cake.
