Turtle Tassies Recipe 😋
Imagine biting into a Caramel Pecan Tassie: the rich, buttery crust perfectly complements the gooey, sweet caramel and the crunchy, nutty pecans. It's a symphony of textures and flavors in one delightful bite.
Ingredients:
1 package (14 ounces) caramels, unwrapped
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
Additional chopped pecans for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin tin.
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramels are melted and the mixture is smooth.
In another bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, all-purpose flour, softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and salt until a dough forms.
Shape the dough into 24 small balls and press each ball into the greased mini muffin tin to form tart shells.
Spoon a small amount of the melted caramel mixture into each tart shell, filling them about halfway.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
Allow the tassies to cool in the muffin tin for a few minutes, then carefully transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Optionally, garnish each tassie with chopped pecans.
Once cooled and set, remove the tassies from the muffin tin and serve.
